» Queer Eye for the Medieval Man: From www.bobsawyer.com: Evidence of the earliest known reality series, "Qveere Eye for thye Medieval Man" was found recently in a vault in eastern Great Britain. Officials date the series of tapestry panels back to around 1066, the year of the Battle of Hastings.

The series of panels depicts a roving band of do-gooders and samaritans who use their talents to make life better for various peasants and serfs in the area. The best-preserved panels depict a young peasant named William who is "made over" by the "Fabulus V" in an effort to "bedde his lovli maide Henrietta."

» Good news for Viking-age and Anglo-Saxon living-historians: My friend Linda forwarded this email to the various Norse/Medieval lists today:

"Once again I'd like to inform you of the imminent publication of a much anticipated clothing and textile resource. "Medieval Clothing and Textiles 1" is due to be published in the spring by Boydell and Brewer. While I cannot say whether or not every edition will contain information relevant to Viking and Anglo-Saxon re-enactors, it looks as thought the first volume does contain at least 4 wonderful articles on our period. I would also urge anyone who has extensive scholarly knowledge on a given textile or clothing topic to consider contacting Robin about contributing an article for future volumes."

Woo Hoo! I can't wait! It's edited by Robin Netherton and Gale R. Owen-Crocker, and based on the list of articles on the website it looks awesome!

Koigu KPPM #212Butterflies are Free scarf» I'm knitting some of my X-mas gifts this year. For starters...my sister is getting the "Butterflies are Free" scarf from Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Mother is getting a gorgeous lace-pattern scarf out of Koigu KPPPM 212 using this lovely "Little Leaf Lace Scarf" pattern. That's all I have planned for now...my 6 yr-old Nephew Cameron loves books so I will get him a gift card for Barnes and Noble so he can go WILD and get what he wants. Nothing like a kid in a book store...reminds me of my youth.

By the way...if you don't know what to get me, amazon.com, BandN and Lowes and/or Home Depot gift cards are always hugely appreciated!

» Work In Progress: Multidirectional Scarf in Noro Silk Garden #213. The pattern is easy and a ton of fun and you can get the PDF version of it here.

» Dogs can't get no respect: Adorable Cavaliers and their kitten buddies from the Cavalier Connection online Forum.

Cap Mod pic from the book.» Finished Object: Cape Mod from Stitch n' Bitch. I actually made it out of some gorgeous orange and red yarn recycled from a man's J. Crew sweater that was given to me. Instead of the fun fur accent stripes (I don't like fun fur) I did some rows of purl stitches which made for a lovely contrast. The finished product was given to my friend Heather in trade for her doing my hair! I will have pics of her in it very soon.
